Eat to Beat Type 2 Diabetes

Metabolic syndrome encompasses increased waist circumference, elevated blood pressure, decreased fasting serum HDL cholesterol, elevated fasting serum triglyceride level (VLDL triglyceride), impaired fasting glucose and insulin resistance as potential markers for pre-diabetes. You do not need to have all of the pieces to qualify. In fact, your fasting glucose levels could even come back normal and yet you could still be wallowing around in a pre-diabetic state waiting for the next shoe to drop. Dr. Church has maintained that, “Those with metabolic syndrome have a seven times greater risk of developing diabetes. And if one of the bad numbers in your metabolic syndrome diagnosis is high blood sugar, that risk jumps to 21 times greater.”
